Dear Parents and Children
CHRISTMAS CALENDAR ATTACHED
Literacy Event
Thank you to all those parents and children who attended the literacy event, it was a huge success with lots of parents enthusiastic about the work we are doing and school. Please find attached copies of some of the resources discussed and shown at the event. We have included helpful website addresses which help parents support their children’s literacy skills at home. A special thank you to the children who completed a number of reading and phonic activities showing parents the types of activities they do in school.
Carol Concert
The carol concert in St Andrew’s Church was another huge success with the children performing beautifully. At times there wasn’t a dry eye in the church and particular thanks to those children who stayed up well passed their bedtimes in order to participate. All donations will be going to the P.A to help provide additional goodies for the children in school.
Next Term
Infant Photographs
Please could all Infants bring in 4-5 photographs of themselves at various points during their life, as the topic for January will be “Ourselves”. Please could you give them to Miss. Wadsworth before we break up for the Christmas holiday, examples could include, baby photographs, sibling births, holidays, Christmas.
Newsletters
After speaking to a number of parents it would seem that those of you who are receiving emailed copies are finding it difficult to find the time to read them and catch up on the latest events. Therefore we have decided to send paper copies to all parents to ensure that you are aware of future and current events.
Christmas Calendar
All activities over the Christmas period that are during the school day are compulsory, so please let the school know if your child is not able to take part in any of the activities.
Monday 13th December
Carols at the Perch & Pike: The school has been invited to sing Carols and Christmas songs in the Perch and Pike at 7pm. This has always been a highlight of the village’s Christmas Calendar and is well supported by the members of the village. All children attending are required to wear SCHOOL UNIFORM and will begin singing at 7pm (could the children meet Miss Rogers at about 6.50pm – thank you!).
Tuesday 14th December
Christmas Cakes - The children will be making their Christmas Cakes in the morning. Please make sure your child has a SHALLOW/SMALL baked bean or tuna tin as they make individual cakes as the larger tins are too tricky to bake in – thank you!
Pantomime – The Pantomime is booked (“Oh no it’s not”) and the performance is at 2pm. Therefore the coach will be leaving school at approximately 1.15pm and will arrive back in school by about 5pm. If the coach is running late, Miss Rogers will contact you by sending a text to your mobile phones. Please make sure that the school has your up to date details and your mobile is switched on - thank you!
If you are a parent attending the pantomime with your children can we please remind you not to bring additional sweets for the children as the PA kindly provides them with a drink and snack! Miss Townsend and Miss Wadsworth will be in charge of the trip and would kindly ask you to come into school at 1pm so that they can go through the paperwork and risk assessments – thank you!
Wednesday 15th December
Nativity – ALL the children will be participating in our Christmas Nativity which is being held in the church on Wednesday 15th December at 2pm. Should you have any questions about costumes or props please speak to Miss Hearne or Mrs Valentine as they are organising them – thank you!
Thursdsay 16th December (Last day of term)
Christmas Party - Party Clothes non-uniform day. Party shoes and/or trainers are permitted but please ensure a spare pair of shoes are available for outside play. The children will have their Christmas party in the morning in the school, followed by a delicious Christmas Meal with all the staff, prepared by members of the Parents Association. After the meal and present opening the children will be escorted back to school and will be ready for collection at 3.15pm.
Goodies to go home - Santa brings presents to all the children and the members of staff who have behaved well all year Therefore please make sure that your child brings a LARGE NAMED PLASTIC BAG to take work they have done throughout the term and their present from Santa home – thank you!
